Chris’s story
Almond Arb & Ecology was founded by Chris Almond, bringing over 22 years of hands-on experience in the forestry, arboriculture and countryside sectors. That’s more than two decades spent in and around trees — felling and managing them on the ground, surveying them for planning, and working with the wildlife that depends on them.
The business was set up to bring that depth of experience to homeowners, architects, developers and land managers across Leicestershire — combining traditional craft with the modern survey methods and clear documentation that today’s planning system demands.
Our approach
We do two things that not every tree firm does. First, we’re documentation-focused: whether it’s a bat survey, a BS5837 tree survey or a piece of tree work near a protected tree, you get clear, professional paperwork that stands up to a planning officer. Second, we join the dots — because we work across both arboriculture and ecology, we spot the issues (a protected tree, a potential bat roost, a nearby pond) that can derail a project if they’re missed, and we deal with them properly.
The result is straightforward, honest advice, work done to a high standard, and fewer nasty surprises.

- National Diploma in Forestry & Arboriculture
- NPTC chainsaw & climbing units — CS30, 31, 32, 38, 39, 40
- Utility arboriculture accreditations — UA1, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, UA5
- Class 2 bat licence
- £5 million public liability insurance
Where we work
We’re based near Hungarton, Leicester and cover Leicestershire — including Leicester, Loughborough, Hinckley, Melton Mowbray, Market Harborough and Coalville and the surrounding villages. For utility, infrastructure and vegetation-management work we operate nationally.
