How much does tree surgery cost?
| Work | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Pruning / crown lift (small–medium tree) | from £150–£400 |
| Crown reduction (medium–large tree) | from £400–£800 |
| Felling a large tree | from £500+ (size & access dependent) |
| Stump grinding | from £80–£200 per stump |
Price depends on the tree’s size, access, and how the arisings are disposed of. We’ll always give you a clear, fixed quote before any work starts.
Do you need permission?
If your tree has a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or is in a Conservation Area, you’ll need the council’s consent before works. Carrying out unauthorised work on a protected tree can bring a substantial fine. We check this for you and, if needed, help with the application — so you’re always covered.
Why choose a qualified arborist
Tree work is one of the more hazardous trades, and poor cuts can leave a tree diseased or unstable. We hold NPTC chainsaw and climbing qualifications (CS30, 31, 32, 38, 39, 40), work to industry safety standards, and carry £5 million public liability insurance — so the job is done safely and you’re protected.

Tree surgery FAQs
Will you clear up afterwards?
Yes — all arisings are chipped or removed and the site left tidy, unless you’d like to keep logs or chip.
What time of year is best for tree work?
Most work can be done year-round, but we avoid the bird nesting season (roughly March–August) where nesting is likely, and some species are best pruned in winter. We’ll advise for your tree.
Are you insured?
Yes — £5 million public liability, and fully qualified. We’re happy to share certificates.
Do you do emergency / storm-damage work?
Get in touch and we’ll respond as quickly as we can for genuinely urgent, unsafe trees.
